Something is really knocking me sick about this Zouma thing. The guy did an awful, awful thing but I hate seeing absolute social media and real life dogpiling. Makes me think that all the mental health awareness talk is pure lip service.

As someone who gets very anxious himself, if I had the fraction of the ire he currently has directed at me I would be thinking some very dark thoughts.

I don't like to see it. The authorities should handle it. Not a load of holier than thou shitheads who probably also have skeletons in their own closet.

His playing days in England are done in my opinion. No opposing fan will ever let him forget what he’s done. I’d even go as far as saying the incident must surely disgust his own team mates. So far it seems his team mates have tried to deflect the situation, but it’s only a matter of time before it affects the team

Yet Marcos Alonso plays on. Darron Gibson would have too if he stayed in shape enough. What he did was despicable. The reaction is several orders of magnitude over the top at this point. Punish him and move on.

The notion of animal welfare classes itself is a joke. So what he turns up to an RSPCA centre, they sit him in a class room and some 19 year old volunteer is like “Errrr try not to kick cats, you can hurt them and they tend not to like it”. If you have to be told kicking cats isn’t good for them you aren’t mentally able to have a pet.

Although agree on healthy skepticism that it would work (tbh place more faith in the presumably upcoming court case that he is banned from owning animals) still think it valuable as
a) I’d like to think people can change and personally seen some people change attitudes after classes/counseling on other subjects.
b) I presume they stress in the course that the lack of empathy involved in animal abuse can also be a marker
to other non animal abuses and that someone really doesn’t want to step down that road if only for their own future.
c) from West Ham’s point of view it important from a pr perspective.
