Poland have always gave England a game as have Switzerland, Turkey were whipping boys for England back in the 80s but haven’t lost by more than 2 since 1992

I'm talking 40 odd years ago here mate, Poland drew with England once and treated it like a world cup win.

Switzerland were routinely given a hiding.

Armenia, Iceland and Luxembourg are probably better more modern examples.

All I'm saying is, if these teams were limited to a Qualifier or something they would rarely play the top teams in competition and wouldn't have progressed.

Something other posters don't seem to grasp

Finland too

Used to be lucky to finish one space above bottom and now they’re genuine contenders to qualify each time out

Iceland went from punching bags to knocking england out in 2016

The general standard of football in uefa is decent by comparison to some other confederations

There’s nearly 55 teams and I’d say roughly 5-6 of them are genuinely awful, with the rest ranging from competent to excellent depending on what pot they’re in

Yep , there's San Marino, Gibraltar, Andorra, Scotland and Wales.

That's just off the top of my head tho, might not be accurate

England haven’t gave them a hiding since 1963, every gave since has been either a draw or a 1-2 goal win at most

I went to a game vs Turkey at the old Wembley with the school. Think it was 4-0 to England and I missed at least 2 goals going to the bog! Think Gazza played.
I remember that game. Gazza scored a good goal and I think Les Ferdinand got one.

I can remember in the 80s England beat Turkey 8-0 I think
