Utter horse manure.

If we spent the 550m better we could be competing for top 4 easily.
The long term part he's right about. We could have done a few years maybe but unless we're willing to keep upping the wages eventually the good players are leaving and you're trying to build it up again.

Thats fair enough, but again why can Man Utd and Arsenal be run so poorly yet they always compete for top 4 whilst more better ran clubs like Brighton, Wolves etc dont have a sniff ?

Every club thats tried to compete has hit problems with FFP thats knocked them back.

Everton (although we didnt help ourselves)

Leicester (problems with P&S)

Wolves (done by FFP and had to sell Jota)

Villa had to sell Grealish but the way they're spending they'll be hit down the line with them having to sell key players.

Its just so anti competitive. I dont have a problem with "FFP" on the basis that its actually fair i.e a salary or transfer cap across the board so every club for example has a max budget of £100 million a season and x amount of wages.

That way clubs with good recruitment, academy set ups and negotiators would often be the clubs successful but the big TV companies, PL and UEFA wouldn't like that - cuz that means clubs like Brentford and Brighton start finishing above clubs like Man Utd who have millions of global fans tuning in every week and weekend to see them win games.

Brentford vs Real Madrid in a CL Semi Final doesn't make UEFA, SKY, BT the same money as Man Utd vs Real Madrid and THAT is why the system is as it is.

The fans need to wake up to what is going on, PL, UEFA etc dont give a toss about us they aint football fans - we all loved seeing Leicester win the league as we are football fans - they didn't they want Liverpool or Man Utd or Chelsea to win it every season.
Hard to argue with this.

I didnt say it was easy.

But its very possible.
When something requires a decade of foresight, solid decision making and a bunch of luck does it really matter the theoretically it is possible?

I don't think we will see another non-Big 6 title winner before they koff to whichever Super League sticks.

And thats cos Everton had 2 chances to close the gap and declined both of them.

We couldn't close the gap completely. We could make progress. But close? No not yet.

The thing is with the stadium opening we could make real progress soon. This window is just a little too much thinking short when we should be thinking long for me to buy that we can do it though.

Close the gap means close the gap mate, it doesnt mean be on the same level.

I cant believe im having to tell Everton fans we have wasted vast sums of money on rubbish players, what a world.

I'm not really arguing that. I'm more saying we could have bought 7 Richarlison level players and sold 7. Long term we can't build a team like City or the RS because we're getting 3 or 4 years out of Salah or KdB, not 8.

European football gives you scope to improve that wage bill.

Liverpool sell players, so do City.
