As for the match, Liverpool were in it for large stretches but couldn't convert anything. City on the other hand, and specifically Jovetic, were very good.

I think Jovetic could really make his mark this season after being injured most of last season. The guy can flat out play.

Generally agree with you mate...but Balotelli is a massive bellend. His behavior is criminal at times. The 'Angry Berbatov' in my eyes. Both massive talents...both can't be arsed to do anything about it. Brilliance overshadowed by ego/laziness

....wonder if the reds might be more suited to playing away from home. For me their problem is more about the lack of affective shield in front of the back four. I also think Gerrard is still a key influence in knocking those 30 yard passes to release forwards. He's like a quarterback and I'm always surprised that no teams deploy their No10 to dump him when the reds get possession at the back.

Its because Liverpool so rarely have possession on the front foot. All that stuff we do with trying to play from the back they don't bother with. They get Mignolet or Skrtel just to aimlessly launch it then get in position 11 men behind the ball and wait for the opposition. They hassle the opposition off it and immediately give it to Gerrard who looks for the quarter back ball. They have played this way ever since Rafael took over. When Rodgers tried to change it Gerrard and co refused to respond so he went back to the tried and trusted Gerrard centric formula. No one can sit on Gerrard because they're always involved in an attack whereas Gerrard is just waiting for it to break down, probably why their defense gets no protection.

Completely agree, therefore to beat them with how we want to play will require all of the back four to be perfectly calm and capable with the ball, then pass it into space to tire them out before Eto'o scores ten.
