Still unreasonable to sack him IMO

Football is broken if he is axed

Based on what? Chelsea have proven that chopping and changing managers is an effective way to win trophies, city have won the league and other domestic trophies doing the same. United are the only team in the history of the PL who have won trophies on a consistent basis by sticking with the same manager. Most of the other top teams in Europe change managers regularly too.

Kendall spent before our title defence that season

For the timeframe, Everton spent enough to be considered in contention

We didn't win it, but we were there in the mix

Pellegrini had an excellent season and a below average one this year

To say that's enough to axe him is unreasonable
Again, the situations are not one and the same. During his tenure Pellegrini has authorised an expenditure of nearly £110m pound on players.

Then you must take into consideration their out lay on wages. Whether you like it or not, or whether it is right or wrong, that brings expectations.

They are at threat of losing their vital Champions League football revenue, required to help alleviate issues with regards to Financial Fair Play.

Europe was overall an embarrassment where they still appear far from being capable of achieving success. They couldn't even win a cup.

I am not saying it is right for him to be sacked and I agree loyalty very rarely emerges in football anymore, but that's where we are now.

If you take a role at a club like Manchester City, then surely you must expect such a fate if you underperform. It's not ideal, but that's life.

This isn't the 1980s anymore... This isn't Everton FC circa 1984. It is the big spenders of Citeh in a Premier League focused on money.

Ask yourself this: can you see Pellegrini bringing them Champions League success? I expect your answer will be the same as their board.

Mancini at least made a cup final. Pellegrini hasn't even come close in anything.

If he consolidates a strong second place in the league it will be a poor season but not a terrible one

So long as City finish 3rd or higher, it won't have too devastating effect on the following season and it's conceivable that he could do better

And not to labour the point, but he did win TWO cups last season

City will likely finish third, United's remaining games are harder than City's, that may be enough to placate their fans but it certainly won't be enough to placate the owners. I feel sorry for Pellegrini because he seems like one of the nicest managers in the league.
