Mancs are revisionists...they will not admit to ever declaring Fellaini "not United standard". Now that Liverpool have dropped back into insignificance, I can revert to my natural stance of disliking that other red lot intensely.
I suppose then they will say that Utd play differently now. To be honest I could never see Fellaini being bought or played by Fergie (when Utd were dominant and were a trophy winning machine). In that way, you could say he's not Utd quality. But in the last couple of years they've had to seriously re-evaluate how good they are and how they play.
In the current setup, grinding out victories with a slightly more long ball, less pace based team, he's more than Utd quality, he's now seen as essential.

So if Liverpool beat Newcastle, they're just 4 points behind that City team.....little bit worrying to be honest....
Regardless of how poor they have been late, there is too much 'quality' in their team for this dismal run to continue in the short-term.

However, they certainly need to invest in the squad if they're to remove the ageing and guileless mercenaries who are causing this drop.

Sometimes a player with desire and tenacity can easily outperform in the long-term a player who has the ability but little desire.

Yeah

He's currently 3-1 against United
Past form is only a small fraction of whether someone should be in the position - being stuck in the past is incredibly dangerous!

Other teams are being revitalised, while City look stale in many departments: high average players age; lack of desire; tactical effectiveness.

City need someone who can help manage a vital transition and unfortunately for Pellegrini, very little people see him as the man to do this.

He won two pots a year ago

You're damn right it's valid when deciding whether to keep him on

It's not a Wenger situation where he went 9 years without winning something

what's pellgrini's transfer business like? £28m on bony who he's barely played when he has aguero and dzeko anyway, £30m for mangala who's utter mince and lampard which was a smart bit of business. Fernando has been laregly average, did he buy fernandinho for a massive fee as well? not lived up to the price tag imo, been okay at times. anyone else?

think losing milner in the summer will be very big for them, he's been one of their top 3 players this season imo.
