This is hilarious.

Spurs manage to lose against the team ranked 8th in Belgium. They even played with a makeshift squad because of injuries (one sub was a 17 year old who only played twice in the Belgian competition).

I thought Genk was a French club. I also didn't even know Belgium had 8 teams in their league.

16:p. It's an interesting competition format. First you have the regular competition, then the teams that end up in the first 6 places play playoffs for the most important European places. Playoffs: point totals get halved (makes it more exciting) and every team plays 2 matches against every other playoff team.

The budget of Gent is 30 mil €, Spurs +- 200 mil € I thought.

Yeah, I know. If I watched Spurs at Goodison in the 60/61 season, I know we won the World Cup in July 66. Watched it on the telly, didn't I? But that Spurs team was magnificent, no two ways about it! Others of my age will tell you the same.
I believe the Burnley team of that period (did they win the league in 62?) were pretty tasty too. Read somewhere that the chairman banned tv cameras so there's no footage.

Yeah, Burnley's title winning team was great as well. But they quickly went the same way as we did post-'70 (after we won the league). Did nothing after that, and their Chairman, Bob Lord said in the late -'60s that they'd be the team of the '70s. He was sadly mistaken...

Just seen the Europa League games on ITV. That tackle of Alli's was horrendous. Leg-breaker, an utter disgrace! He reminds me of Wilshire a couple of seasons ago - if things aren't going his way, he's a total snide of a player...
The studio pundits weren't overly critical of him. Something like 'He has a tendency to do that but he will do it less as he gains more experience'. Beggars belief.

They excused it by saying he had an 'edge' to his play, and never wanted him to lose it. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. As I have said, that was a leg-breaker of a tackle, the kind of tackle that basically finished Oviedo's career with us and likely will see him finish his career in a lower division or abroad playing for a far lesser team. But hey, Alli is with a glamorous London club, so they go easy with the criticism...
