Not that bad wounds maybe at the time but look how we are playing. Now?Apologies to Andy/Joey and everyone else of a certain "vintage" for reopening old woundslol
I know mate, and I just can't let go of the "Oxford"night,"Lucky"boots?he bottled it that evening when the real pressure was on!!
Up to now - season isn't over yet?Goal of the season. Incredible
Another couple of results today that underlines the point I was making in the thread that was locked:

Can admin please open that thread again for posters to comment?
The Oxford night was on a par with the Luton night a decade earlier when somehow or other we contrived to lose the Title which was still in our own hands with four games to go
It is really strange that Devon Loch like collapse in the spring of '75 is not more widely discussed.
We finished fourth, three points behind the winners, Derby County.
Two points for a win in those days....we took three points from the last flippin' four games, the first being that awful night at that awful ground
But that wasn't the worst of it.
The real reason we did not win the league that year?
Carlisle rotten United.....in the one season during their wretched history they were in the top flight they did the double over us.
And were relegated
How Everton is that....
Think we won 2 out of the last 9/10 games, including a 3-2 defeat to Sheff United after being 2 upThe Oxford night was on a par with the Luton night a decade earlier when somehow or other we contrived to lose the Title which was still in our own hands with four games to go

Therapy has to be available somewhere matelol@Dario Terracotta @Joey66 and Khal, we gotta stop torturing ourselves over those (and other) lost opportunities, and pray that FM, RK and SW can steer the good ship Everton out of the doldrums and back into the fast lane

Yes....that was the penultimate game.
And it was a wide open title race that season, about six or seven teams involved including Ipswich, Stoke and Boro as well as EFC, the RS and Derby.
They all staggered over the line.
In fact Derby County had finished their fixtures and had gone off on holiday and had to come back for a victory parade lol
Ipswich were expected to win their last game and their goal average, as it was back then, was vastly superior to that of Derby.
If we'd even drawn at home to relegated Carlisle home and away,or relegated Luton away we'd have done it,three extra points, there I go torturing myself againlolYes....that was the penultimate game.
