But you did say he’ll be gone before the end of next season. Right.

That's my prediction yes. We've seen this before with Di Matteo at Chelsea. Group of brilliant players hate their manager, down tools on him, club in anarchy. Affable bloke comes in to take the reigns, makes 1 or 2 subtle tactical tweeks, players decide they can be bothered again, batter a load of mediocre sides, get a bit of luck in 1 or 2 big games, all is rosy. Same sort of thing happened with Pearson at Leicester as well.

You judge a manager in the 6-12 months after a transfer window. Good luck to Solskjaer but I wouldn't put any money on this working out long-term, it's just my opinion I don't get why people in here are having titty lips?

So how is it an incredibly naive appointment if we don’t know?

Because he has no real record to judge him on. For a club as huge United, properly the biggest in the world, to appoint a manager who has zero trophies in his managerial career, has never done a full season in any top European league, hasn't got any examples of bringing through any world class talents from youth level and has never before had to spend big money on signings, of course that's naive.

Maybe he'll do great, as someone points out above Southgate basically got the England job by default yet he's easily our best manager since Robson. There's far more examples of failures than successes though when it comes to this sort of appointment in football.

Sorry I must have misread your post. I didn't see the bit where you said I predict.
