Oh I agree re Bardsley getting a red as well, just wouldn’t be sorry to see players getting reds for doing idiotic temper tantrums like pretending to headbutt someone.
What I don't like is the idea behind having people sent off for violent conduct is to keep the game from turning into some kind of war zone. With that in mind it's probably important that actual violent acts get punished and so far this season we have established that kicking somebodies legs when nowhere near the ball (Kenedy, Bardsley) is fine while light head to head contact isn't. That kind of inconsistency is dumb and the logic of headbutts being worse just because doesn't work for me either.

Fair point.

This is the thing these law makers don't understand, have any of them played top level football? If not, they don't understand the pressures of the mass media coverage, the money, the impact of failure.

People do stupid things in the heat of the moment, you've got to accept that happens. As long as its not violent then they should just appreciate that pressure gets to people. I mean richarlison's red card was stupid and soft but the ref was following the law... I think.

In rugby you get loads of scuffles, but you just get on with it after that. Why can't football be like that? A player can get kicked, battered and bruised by fellow professionals who don't know how to stop them legally, yet if they lean their head into them they get sent off. That's not right, you're encouraging kids to just try and wind up fellow players. It's got nothing to do with football then, it's not about being better than anyone.

The sport has gone way too soft for me.

I don't like pointing to rugby all the time but I find it to be a sport that is officiated the right way. The refs don't have to deal with a ton of players crowding them. The clock stops so stupid things like walking off on subs and other annoying time wasting can't happen. Red cards are only given out for things that are truly dangerous and violent. The tmo and ref communications can be heard so there is no question what happened in a decision. All of these things should be put into football in my opinion.

Beat United away n then lose at Watford, must be very annoying if you're a spurs fan
Spurs didn't actually play that well at United and if Rom was a big game player it could have been finished at half. I didn't watch Spurs today but it wouldn't surprise me if they tried the same stuff and it didn't work.

The fact that Bardsley is getting praise for kicking and winding up Rashford is disgusting. I hate that smart, experienced crap that these pundits say when someone does something like that.
