That's why I find it almost impossible to compare the top players of each generation because they mastered the game at their time.

I'm sure one of these new AI apps out there can simulate any scenario if we put all the correct parameters in.

You can compare the quality of athlete though and guys aren’t getting slower and weaker

You take top players of past generations, and transplant them into today's game, train them up to the fitness levels, etc., and tell me they would be not up to it? Pele, Eusebio, Best, Maradona, Cruyff, and (dare I say it) a goalscoring machine like Ian Rush would not be equal to, or better, than those playing today? Of course they would! They would all make monkeys out of today's modern midfielders and defenders...

I’m not saying they can’t or they wouldn’t. My point is that it’s hard to directly compare, like many attempt to do, because the development of the game.

If they were the best of their generation, for me they deserve praise and adulation. Would Pele be better than Messi etc? I don’t know nor care.

Think Fulham used all their luck up last week ! They will definitely struggle without Mitrovic. His last act was to create an assist for their only goal against us.
