Today's Football - 2023/2024 Season

As one who played the game for decades and reffed at Sunday League level, I'm finding it hard to come to terms with the fact that when a player is on the move, makes a tackle, and quite clearly gets to the ball first and clear it, how he is supposed to then be able to come a complete standstill in a millisecond in order not to come into contact with an opposing player. But many on here, I know, will disagree with me...
As a centre back myself in my playing days I kind of agree with you, but that Romero challenge was dirty, the natural momentum may have caused a clash without a doubt but the action of raising his foot is purposeful in my opinion

Offside isn't subjective, at least it shouldn't be. They have determined that no part of the body can be ahead of the other player... better to have the rules be exact and clear than be down to interpretation. It just needs to be officiated better and improvements in technology will make this a reality.

It's parts you can score from. There's no other sport that determines body parts by the millimetre to be against the rules (that I can think of).

Doesn't make the rules right. It's just tolerated now.

But sure. Bring in the semi-automated offsides and real-time 3d reviews to add that "magic" var has brought to the game.

Agree with that. You've decided to go through the lot in that kinda challenge
