Aberdeen and Dundee United were challenging for the title in the 80's though. In fact, they were known for a while as the "New Firm"

Scotland used to be a much more open league than it is now

I wish I could have watched it more back then to be honest

the Scottish League has been won by clubs outside the Old Firm 19 times out of 117, it has never been that open

In 20 years you could be lamenting on a forum about how La Liga used to be so much more competitive

The sad thing is the demise of the Scottish clubs, they completely missed the boat as far as marketability and money-making goes. It's happened elsewhere too, all the leagues of smaller countries have suffered to varying degrees as more money's been pumped into the game.

Ijjy and Mikey you're both right, not sure why you're disagreeing. Mikey is right in that La Liga is very similar in structure to the SPL, in that there's only really two teams who have a chance of winning it and they're usually much more dominant than in the Prem. Ijjy is right that the general quality of La Liga is MUCH higher than SPL and there are 6 or 7 European quality teams in it.

Quality is better in spain than England aswell mate. 1st vs 1st and so on the spanish teams would win nearly all games apart from when you get to Elche/Osasuna and them teams. Probably still dominate the game

7 wins out of 7 and Celta Vigo at home tomorrow.

It's on.

Diego Simeone is some what of a sodding genius.

They have great depth aswell mate. Best defence in Spain easily also.

Just imagine having the likes of Adrian, David Villa, Leo Baptistao and Diego Costa to pick from to play up top.

Hats off this morning to David moyes after 11 years and an almighty effort he finally got Everton above Manchester United

David Villa speaks for himself.
Adrian slots like a boss.
Costa is a Snidey bell but every team needs one and he slots.
Leo doesn't even get a game these days which is mental because he's sodding awesome.

Apropos of nothing, WTF are Bayern wearing these Bavarian jackets for onto the pitch every game?

What next, Chelsea taking to the pitch in red pensioners tunics.
