La Liga is pretty much the SPL from 10 years ago now I think more in depth

You have two teams on top who are entrenched and hated rivals (Barca/Real and Celtic/Rangers) and one other side who looks like it might be able to break in but just hasn't managed it (A.Madrid and Hearts)

History tells us that A.Madrid will get closer than anyone but will eventually fall short

Hearts were so close to breaking the Old Firm duopoly. They even finished 2nd in 2006, but it all went south for them

I'm afraid the same will happen

That being said, if A.Madrid manage to win the league, I will not only do a happy dance but I will also be fully prepared to give La Liga another chance

Until then, I'll stick with the SPFL, as I care more about what's happening in Scotland than Iberia

And I'd love to see Athletico manage it as well, but it just isn't going to happen unless some crazy billionaire buys them and pumps money in

Most of the rest of la Liga know they cant do that, and have improved the youth / scouting / coaching side of things, knowing that the investment will usually come in when one of the big two, or fools in England, come in and buy the players. This wont result in league title wins, but it will markedly improve the Spanish league and national team given time.

You're wrong Mikey.

Sorry you are.

Here's a list of boss La Liga teams.

The obvious 2.
My Atletico team. 7 wins from 7 and at home to Celta Vigo tomorrow.
Valencia
Sevilla
Villareal - started there first season back excellently.
Bilbao - a miracle how they do what they do
Espanyol - talent all over the pitch.
Sociadad - struggling a little to reach last seasons heights but talent.
Malaga - nearly screwed themselves over but still got good players.

Even the so called crapper teams have decent players

Comparing the spl to la Liga is bordering in lunacy Mikey.

10-15 years ago Scotland had some good teams as well mate

If you go further back to the 80's, Scottish teams did well in Europe and even won tournaments. The national team was regularly making tournaments

Do you honestly think anyone other than Real or Barca has a shot at winning that league?

This is an honest question here

I used to start every season thinking "Hearts will do it this year" and they never did. They would come close but they never managed it

Do you honestly think Spain is any different?

Will Espanyol, or Atletico, or Sevilla ever win La Liga? Will it happen?

I think not.

It may happen if La Liga is reformed so that the TV rights are shared more equally and the Classico sides don't have as much power. Someone may buy one of the other teams and have a proper go

Unless any of that happens, I do not see it changing anytime soon

If you think differently, then great. I admire your optimism. I just don't see it

We'll agree to disagree Mikey.

I stand by my point that I don't think you watch enough La Liga to really judge.

Look at all the euro leagues. How many teams will actually win the leagues?

Scotland - Celtic - but obviously reasons there.
Germany - Bayern - Dortmund - but let's be honest only Bayern.
Italy - I'm not too sure as I don't watch hardly any Serie A these days but is guess a select few like Juve.
France - the big 2. Maybe Marseille. Lyon have shafted themselves in recent years.
Portugal - same 3 teams for beards with Braga getting a tiny weeny sniff at it.
England - Most open season for ages, but you could pick the winner from 5 teams.

It's not just Spain.

Most of those leagues have no where near a discrepency between the "haves" and "have nots" as Spain does though

It's built into the game FFS. Look at the TV rights for proof of that
