City will beat Barca. Absolutely no doubt in my mind.

Like Bayern and to a lesser extent Chelsea, City are a powerful side. Barca's worst kind of opponents.

Barcas worst kind of opponents are parky bus types generally. The team in general being powerful doesn't necessary cause trouble. Bayern is the only team I can think of that were too fast and too strong, but Barca were in pretty poor form at that time and without a fully fit Messi. I still think Bayern would have too much but the overall score of that tie doesn't reflect the real gap, and Bayern and City both know that.

Barca had a lot of the ball and played well in attack against Atleti last week for example, and they are as powerful and as tough an opponent you will get in Europe at the moment.

Yet they are still top of the league after all these games, efficiently cranking out the wins where they should.

Underestimate them at your peril. They are a proper team, and when Podolski starts slotting it'll be hard to dismiss them. I expect them to be in the mix right until the end.

Oh yeah at the moment for sure they are still winning, but what I have seen of there actual play for a couple of months now has at times been less stellar and I just expect quite a few points dropped in the bigger games and the disappointment of losing a bit of ground on the top two will then have a further effect because the media will go into crisis mode calling them bottlers again.

haha I love him

Disappointing for Atleti. Another great week for Real.

I expect Real next week to win at home to Granada and Barca at home to Malaga, while I think Atleti might be held to a draw at Rayo.

The following weekend is a belter as Barca play Valencia at home and Real are away to Athletic, while Atleti have Sociedad at home.

7-0 agg victory accurately reflected the superiority of Bayern over Barca. Powerful sides are your achilles heel, it's why Chelsea gave you such tough games when you were in your pomp. Of course you also need more than strength, you need that panache which Bayern and City have.

City need a statement game in Europe and I reckon that this will be it.

Also, Alexis Sanchez is a bad bell.

Fair play to Gary Cahill for not making a meal of that Rafael challenge; had that been the other way around you can guarantee Rafael would have rolled over eight times thus basically forcing the red card to come out.

Accurately reflected the superiority in that tie, yes pretty much. Accurately reflected the gap in quality between the two sides in general, no. Theres a difference.

Chelsea give Barca trouble because they assemble a multi-million pound bus in front of the goal, its not so much to do with power as it is to do with putting almost all your team in the final third. Its a fair tactic, but not really based on power in the way that Bayern tie was.

I love Alexis, he works his ass off for the team, and is having an excellent season. Unfortunately he has had a couple bad games in a row now. They don't get behind him at the stadium. My buddies are always moaning about him, but he contributes a hell of a lot.
