barkley and carrick with lallana in front is so much better than henderson and gerrard, not saying that because of blue tint. nothing wrong with henderson, it's just he does pretty much jack sh,t. barkley's confident and will take players on from deep and will put oppositon on the back foot and carrick is, alongside barry, the only natural DM england have atm.

i don't see why they've gone with youth over experience for LB backup, but chosen lampard over younger alternatives, that's a poor decision. england would benefit without gerrard imo, he even got taken and over and made a mockery of from set plays, which is his only attribute atm

Have to echo some comments here regarding Gerrard and Rooney. I know it wont happen but Roy should be looking to the future, and play the younger lads. I know Rooney isn't exactly old, and i always backed him usually, but i can not remember him actually looking good for England in a long time.

It's not even a case of "let's give the younger lads a chance" anymore. The fact is that they're just crap for England and players like Oxlade-Chamberlain, Barkley, Sterling (dare I say it) and more actually deserve to play in their place regardless of age... But, as you say, it won't happen unfortunately.

The fact is that they're just crap for England and players like Oxlade-Chamberlain, Barkley, Sterling (dare I say it) and more actually deserve to play in their place regardless of age... But, as you say, it won't happen unfortunately.

They'll get their chance when we're safely knocked out probably.

It's difficult because hodgson will shoehorn Gerrard into the starting eleven so he will have to play someone next to him to do his running. With a striker this only leaves three places. Rooney will get one because his name is Rooney then you have llana, Barkley, Milner, sterling, welbeck fighting for two places.
