They did play alright but its always the same old story with England. Shoehorning players in because the media over hypes them and for 'who' they are not what they are doing on the pitch. Rooney is the biggest fraud in international football. Bar the 04 Euros can anyone remember him having a really top game in an England shirt? Yet he still starts every game he is fit. Gerrard is another one. He is well past his best now but will continually get picked until he does the right thing and retires from international football. Yes he was a great player in his day but they are long gone now. Hodgson makes the right noises but when push comes to shove you can bet these boys will be starting come June 14th

Of course Gerrard will he's the bloody captain, plus he's the only starter from tonight's starting midfield with regular tournament experience.

Let's hope he brings some of that 2010 World Cup experience with him.

Rooney is awful for England though. Yet to score in a World Cup and he's 28 now! I have visions of him being pink in the face running around a yard off the pace before being hooked off on 70 minutes.
