Todd Boehly. A man...who wants an all-star game.

I'm not disputing that at all. I just don't really understand why you all act like it's this special support that isn't similar to other supporters in every sport all around the world.

I don't think we have been, (I don't see that anyway), we are talking about one thing being said about football and commenting on that.

Bro. A quick Google search tells me that the Premier League generated $6 billion, yet the NBA has topped $10 billion. A pure difference of $4 billion. I don't care about the future or what's going to happen, because it's all speculation and hypothetical. A quick fact search shows the NBA is far ahead of EPL in the current day, which is what I'm interested in.

The NBA has produced billionaires in Michael Jordan and Lebron James. Has the Premier League brand produced any billionaires? (Ronaldo doesn't count). NBA related merchandise is very popular throughout the world, especially the Jordans footwear. NBA player's on social media have a far bigger presence than your average Premier League players. The NBA has been extremely influential in pop culture, has the Premier League ever been influential in pop culture? The NBA Instagram page has more than 10 million more followers than the Premier League page.

It's actually disrespectful that you are comparing the Premier League with the NBA.

Money generated and socials. The true measure of any sporting competition. Football ain't for you.

No mate explain generally what makes football support on your shores so special.

I don't think it is more special than anywhere else, it's just different and unique to it's place: like every fandom everywhere.

The difference for me is that we grew up in it. And also (for myself, I can't speak for anyone else) I find meaning in supporting a team that 3 generations of my family before me supported and coming from the same city.

I'm not saying that's "better" but I am saying, only half jokingly, that I don't understand why on earth you'd put yourself through the Everton experience without good reason.

I actually think this terrible idea will be a success of sorts- in terms of revenue anyway. They could hold it in Singapore or something, 80,000 tickets will be snapped up and it will get a good, global audience (mainly from Asia and N.America). But what will be funny is how little the players will take it seriously and there will be loads of late drop-outs (unless players are paid big big money to appear) and, after all the 'fake' injuries, the biggest star name left will be someone like Jarrod Bowen.

This is because it's engrained in American Sports culture, it's not in the UK/Europe. And that's fine.
The non-American players also like the all star game in MLS. It isn't like Paul Arriola loves it and Carles Gil hates it. They all enjoy it to an extent. It's a rare chance to meet up with these guys outside of competition.

The charity match we have is called the community shield which is the game between the F.A cup holders against the League winners from the season before and no one I know takes this game very seriously.

Why would an all-star game be any different ?

It’s just not in our sporting culture just as relegation and promotion isn’t in the US culture and that’s fine.

Mate you can travel from 1 end of our country to the other in about 10 hours, 2 hours if you fly.

The players in this country meet up outside of competition without a fake kick about.

Not really, at least the non-Tom Davies level don't but that isn't what we're talking about?
Players have relationships from International games and former teammates.

Trust me, they find time to socialise.

But anyway, the players in this country are "worked" too hard to find time for meaningless games, so this is a non-starter.

I mean no idea about the MLS, but for players that are Internationals you talking 70 games in a season, like they can be arsed with another 90 for, well, nothing.
