Agreed. Its fashionable to jump on the "he's crap" bandwagon. Unfortunately most people who do this know very little about the game.

Cleverley is in a very unfortunate position, he has been made the scapegoat for united season, when lets be honest Michael Carrick and co haven't exactly been great - proably because of "how" they are managed and coached.

SAF liked Cleverley as a player - if he didn't he would have got rid.

It's not bandwagon jumping if people have said the same thing for around three years.

He's absolute cack. Makes Rodwell look adventurous by comparison, offers nothing except static movement and five yard crab passes whilst shirking all responsibility.

There's a very outside chance that dropping away from United and playing without the pressure would produce a bit of a better player, but I'm talking dropping to someone like Sunderland, not Everton.

I think he is a decent player who hasn't lived up to expectations. Feel he would be more than a useful addition to our squad. £6m-£8m at the most though. RM would bring the best out of him.

Players that do nothing particularly well are highly sought...................In the Championship. Thankfully we haven't got the cash to compete at that level!

Good luck at Leicester TOM!

People make judgements on players from what they hear other people say. Guaranteed the majority of people who say he's [Poor language removed] have never really watched him play.

Personally, Ive never rated Cleverley at all and cant see him fitting in with our tempo. However, Ducker says in this morning's Times that the bid will be about £8m though it could take nearer £12m for Utd to part with him. He adds that when Cleverley was on loan at Wigan, Roberto played him on the left of an attacking trio behind a main striker rather than central midfield where Moyes played him. He must see something in him to consider shelling that much out on him so Im in two minds now.

I can see him playing the Osman role.

What does he play in the Dutch 4th division or something? Of course people have seen him play - extensively!

He's just another in a long line of over hyped young English players, who when you consider them closely, just aren't all that.

Cleverley is bang average, he's not been made a scapegoat at all, but plenty of United pass holders who are best placed to judge reckon he's bobbins.

I'm not liking the 'Barry to the MLS' rumour either. Surely if an MLS team is going to blow a big hole in their budget it would be on a flashier player than Barry? He's quality at what he does, but not exactly someone you would pay to go and see?

Must say i think Cleverly is [Poor language removed] but I'd get into bestiality if Martinez wanted me too. Will give Cleverly the benefit of the doubt if Martinez wants him

I believe that sometimes players are unfairly targetted. It takes alot for them to bounce back. Look at Henderson for Liverpool - technically one of the most average players in the league but one of the best players this season - he's been given confidence, he could have been sold on for a big loss but fair play to him and Rodgers, he's now flying.

I've seen United midfield this season look abysmal, Cleverly was getting slated for making no adventurous passes but the movement wasn't there at all. A fresh start could see a very good player at a very reasonable price.

i don't mind cleverly for the right price could be a clever addition Martinez seems to be able to bring the best out of players an he is a technical player working with bobby again will improve his passing an ball retention and all the other aspects of his game

The biggest indicator of this will be McCarthy... despite being an absolute monster this season he's still not on the bracket of "Man in pub, wanting to sound like he knows about football by telling his mates "you watch him, he's really good, you've got to have a trained eye for him".... been a few of them in the past few years, Carrick, Lucas, Dembele etc

Footballers have a very good habit of making some fans look very foolish in their rash judgements.
