To me, signing Tom Cleverly just screams lack of intent/ambition. We'd all be pissing ourselves if the RS had signed him. I'm not buying that there isn't a better midfielder out there than Cleverly who we could bring in at an affordable price.

One could say that it is your typical Everton True Blue Holdings signing.
Why expect any more?

i may be going against many fans here but i would never boo an everton player on the pitch. and slag pembo and kilbane but they were triers. thats all everton could afford and attract. everyone probably thought the same of players like steve watson until he scored a hat trick.

For free? That wants to come to us as England international level? At 25 years or around that age?

He isn't our main signing and I'm sure there's many better midfielders out there but when you consider everything it makes a lot more sense to go for him than not. And he wants to come us. Sound that.

It's the 11% of the plums against the signing mate the noise. Like the utter tits who signed a petition to say they didn't want him to be in the England squad for the World Cup.

Whoppers the lot of them. I hold Evertonians to higher standards than that.

Decent enough for us. Hes a good player and he's gotta be a better option than Barry, who's losing half a yard daily by now
Martinez got the best out of him at Wigan
lets see how it goes before writing the lad off.
why all the talk of resale value on a player who isn't even at the club yet

Hold your horses there. Nobody likes premature asseveration.

Except that said midfielder would cost money and he didn't.

Whether you rate him or not, this deal makes sense. Better to keep whatever money there is to strengthen in other areas.

What I dislike most about this singing is the signal that our approach isn't going to change next season. We're still going to have two players who midfield not capable of creating but very good at playing 5 yard passes.

I'm interested to see how he shoehorns Barry, McCarthy and Cleverley into the same team. I suspect it'll happen on more occasions than we care to see.

No you hold your horses....you've been banging on about this for a couple of days now, and frankly it's getting annoying.

What facts do you have to believe we won't be buying anyone? Getting tired of this narrative you're trying to create.
Where have I said we won't be buying anyone?

Relatively happy with this signing for the (lack of) money spent. Will probably regret this when we see which of our better midfielders makes way
