What I dislike most about this singing is the signal that our approach isn't going to change next season. We're still going to have two players who midfield not capable of creating but very good at playing 5 yard passes.

I'm interested to see how he shoehorns Barry, McCarthy and Cleverley into the same team. I suspect it'll happen on more occasions than we care to see.
Cleverly on the left where he played Osman in lieu of Pienaar.

God signing but been known to be weak minded so hopefully the fans will support him and we will see the best of him. Plus he more attacking then Barry and James, besic. He not really defensive.

Can't hate. We need long term replacement for pineaar and osman, and somehow he fits the bill. Bonus for having played under bobby.

For some reason i expect him to flop but can't complain.

He's young and we might be the perfect fit for him to rejuvinate his career again and maybe even make a profit from him one day

It's not like there's an abundant of class players out there for us.

I do think he will end up over using him playing him from the left.

He clearly doesn't like playing 2 wingers. He clearly feels pienaar's absence was a massive part of our downfall last season (which is probably correct) but Cleverley is no pienaar.....I see trouble ahead!!

Ive just read in the Echo that Celverly has the record for most touches by a player in an England game ever. This is what we really need, someone to keep the game moving and hopefully keep the other team from setting themselves against us.

Welcome to mid table mediocrity boys.

if the lad hadn't started out at United, he wouldn't be playing for a Prem team now, I think he's living off that. I've seen absolutely nothing to convince me this is a decent signing but sometimes when you watch a player every week you appreciate what they do a bit more than when you only watch them every now and again so hopefully I'll be proved wrong.

Understandable deal.

Yep. I'd say Cleverly is a Pienaar/Osman replacement signing, not a central midfielder.
Martinez has said before that his best position is as a central midfielder but has also highlighted that he is flexible and can play in a number of positions in midfield.

Yep, that's why villa wanted to sign him to stay there- unless I missed something they stayed up?!!!!

yes mate, I said if he hadn't started at United nobody would want him. he's still living off the hype that surrounded him when he was at them so teams are willing to take a risk on him because of that.

Another cr** signing - Robles, Alcaraz, Kone, Mcgeady, Cleverly. Not good enough for Top 4 or us.
Barry was ok but played far too much and he hasn't brought in the correct players to balance what we already have.
