we'll prob have to put up with him for an absolute age now then Like we have with Tim Howard who was also that age when we signed him, Christ the thought makes me shiver.

on a serious note though Martinez must like the kid a lot as this transfer seems to have been on the cards for ages.

Barry won't be playing every game this season, but McCarthy and Cleverly in midfield seems alright to me. Replace Barkley with "foreign No. 10" and I'm good with that arrangement.

I don't think we'll be playing 4-2-3-1 nearly as much next season.

We changed it towards the end of this season, mccarthy played further forward.
 
yeah, he looked threatening when he was getting forward. Martinez mentioned a long time ago about giving McCarthy the opportunity to attack more, so it will be interesting to see how we line up in the future. I personally think last year's team was really transitional and that we'll see more of what Martinez wants the team to look like this year. Distin, Hibbert, Pienaar and Osman are unlikely to feature much this season. Distin not at all, obviously, and Mirallas is probably out too, so who knows. I'm looking forward to next season under Martinez to see what he can do with a team that's actually his idea.

Its a position I personally think we are heavily stocked in, but thats if hes played where I think he should be, DM/CM.

Still 2 months of the window left, not the best start, but guess we see how this pans out.

No major issue with the player, more the position.

Wouldnt be suprised if one of the others goes, Barry to America,Gibson shipped out?

My fear is that Robeto loves Barry and doesn't drop him
 
If Bobby has realised something we've all realised here is what will happen next season.

As usual the 4231 gets used against the likes of Chelsea, Man City etc and I'm ok with that but our biggest problem was breaking down teams who set up to defend against us.

With Cleverley we can now play a very effective 4123.

So that would be

McCarthy
Cleverley Barkley
Lennon Lukaku Mirallas


For example, depending on other transfers.
