Reminds me of when we were linked with McCarthy on here, again this(you know who you are.) When will the GOT masses realise that they really don't know much about football/players?

The worst part of that article is him saying there'll only be two or three new players!

Followed by this

The Everton manager said: “Within football losing or winning doesn’t affect players; it’s how you lose and I think every player who’s faced Everton this season will have come out with a real respect and a real appreciation of the way we play as a club.

What a complete load of s****

He seems very much a confidence player and better in an attack minded side. For all his faults Sherwood likes to push forward and even if temporary can instill self belief in his players and Cleverley's performances for Villa have noted a dramatic upturn as can be seen by Villa fans attitudes changing as @meagher94 quoted.

Don't think we'll see him much as a DM unless we have a injury crisis, more the roles Osman is in. Prefer him in the formation Villa use rather than our typical one but perhaps we are going to be a bit more flexible with that next season. At least it might mean Barkley/Naismith don't play on the wing.

Not enthusiastic about his signing but as a squad player he will be on a free, decent age and he's not going to have any problems settling off field. I wasn't thrilled about Lennon either and yet been impressed by how much he has added to the team. Much as I value Pienaar, given his recent injury history if he retired and Cleverely took his salary we probably would have a deeper squad.

Perhaps the money would be better used on someone else, if we were getting someone from Villa I'd much prefer Delph, but sometimes you just have to have faith in the manager - it is his job after all that he is gambling.

neville and zanetti both played different roles, neville midfield, zanetti accross the back.

Milner plays out wide = Cleverly does

Milner can play in the middle in different roles = Cleverley plays both deep and forward

So yes they are similar. they cover the same areas on the pitch so therefore they are similar.

also a bit direct calling me thick eh? Am i stupid then? Should i jusyt agree with everything you say as apparantly i am thick for not having the same opinion as you
Yeah.

Yeah but wasnt he at least rated by people outside of our fan base like pundits and stuff. Dont think many rate Cleverly outside of his own family.

A lot of people hadnt watched many Wigan games, I know I didnt, but Cleverley has had vastly more exposure and people have watched him a lot more than they did McCarthy, Cleverley is basically a McCarthy lite, with a slightly better passing range and less tenacity.

It appears Roberto Martinez does. Err, think Sir Alex also used him in the prem. In fact, hasn't he got a prem winners medal?

What about the meltdown when we signed Gibson? Nobody was arsed about injuries then, he was just labelled an awful player.

Are people who rubbish cleverly ones that would sign milner?

Becasue they are pretty much the same player. Milner probably is a better version as he is playing at man city, but still they are both utility players who cover different roles and aren't glamorous.

the main difference to a club like us is one of them is probably 75 grand a week cheaper.
I would sign Milner, however he is a very good footballer, while Cleverly isn't.
