Wouldn't have tolerated this season though. You can say what you want about him least he had a bit of passion. Very good full back and ok in defensive mid when we had injuries. Would have geriatric Neville over geriatric Barry every day of the week.

Yeah Neville stayed a bit too long, but he was a good captain, a pretty good player for us, always spoke well to media as captain and still speaks well of us ( as does Kilbane) as a pundit

P Neville may not have been an out an out star but he wasn't holding the club to ransom or always looking for better offers like some - enough with the slating of good Everton players

Given we're not in the market for Messi et al. I'd sooner have players like Neville, Barry, Cleverly, Baines, Coleman, Cahill and Pienaar than your washed-up Gazza, Ginola, Adebayor, and El-Hadj-Diouf type mercanaries

One thing Moyes did do well was buy players based on personality or character as well ability, and given the obvious monetary constraints, I think the team that Neville captained of about 5 years ago had some proper Everton lads in.
None of those Yaya Toure birthday cake shenanigans for them lot

Leaving out the games where they played fantastic attacking football and winning again I see, "playing like Barca wasn't meant literally and more fool you for believing so (again not tackling the literal part of the post 'new manager syndrome' as you know it was true)

Like I said get ready to see Mirallas replaced out wide with the only player in history to have a petition to stop the lad playing international football.

Mid table player signed by a mid table manager. Squad player fine but he won't be brought in to be that.

Stop chatting [Poor language removed] you utter pube.

Phil Neville is a prick

Fancy pointing me to where the words 'marquee signing' have been used to describe Tom Cleverley?
Who else are we gonna sign? This is it. This is who we are now. The team that signs Tom Cleverley and hails it as a good signing when he wasn't even good enough for Villa.

We're done as a club.

Doomed.

And you're all blind to recognise that this gimp is just the start of our destruction.

I'm actually not sure he'll end up being the scapegoat here. He's mobile and gets around the pitch putting tackles in. Evertonians seem to value that over talent and end product at times.

Lukaku for example, often gets called lazy because he's not sprinting around like Andy Johnson and Marcus Bent running down blind alleys and chasing lost causes. He's not being lazy at all, he is simply using his brain as a striker => 20 goals a season. Meanwhile, Coleman, a quick, all-action kind of player, was horrifically bad last season and got about 2% of the stick Lukaku did.

As long as he puts a shift in, doesn't talk the press about career ambitions and doesn't play like a league 1 standard player, he'll be ok here I reckon. He could even be very popular.

It's important we don't get on his back like. He can be a bit Barkley with his confidence issues, apparently.
Hope you're right mate. Looking at the complete metdown by some on this forum, he seems to be starting at -10 though. I do realise that this doesn't automatically reflect the opinion of the match going Goodison support, but still I think it's cringeworthy how quite a few on here completely slate a player before he has kicked a single ball in a royal blue shirt.

I know it's all about opinions, but surely a lot of garbage that has been spouted on here is attention seeking stuff. He's an Everton player now ffs, lets get behind the guy. No player ever improved from getting slated by their own fans. That's just my humble opinion however.

so much glue

Don't tell Del, but Cleverly could be our new Peter Reid....he's going to be awesome.
If he was as bad as people say, the RS would of paid £10million for him.
He will give balance on the left, can rotate with Barkley and McCarthy to allow us switch between different formations.
Not as skilful as Osman, but more positive than McCarthy going forward.
Just need to swap McGeady for Van Dijk and bring Del back - midfield sorted.

Stop being a gimp. We recently signed James McFadden.
