Think he will. McCarthy and Cleverly is a pretty dynamic pair that move the ball quickly. He's unlikely to be outstanding but he will make us better.

Stinks a bit of Joe Allen to me mate. A midfield due of McCarthy and Cleverly is too predictable, no creativity.

Struggled all the way to Wembley at villa. he'll be fine

He had 3 goals and literally no assists last season. Playing in midfield...

3 goals and literally no assists from midfield sounds a lot like our very own world beater in Ross Barkley. Give the lad a break and get behind him, he might surprise you

People are judging his performances playing in different teams under different managers playing different tactics.

Lets give him a few games to settle into our team, under our manager, playing our tactics before we decide he's the worst transfer since ManU loaned Falcao.

BUT HE GOT 2 DA WEMBERLEY

So did Elmohamady last year and that rumour has been universally ridiculed by every Evertonian ever

Im quietly very happy with the Clev signing. I think he'll do quite well.

He'll have a lot more confidence under Martinez and also getting a good half season under his belt at Villa will stand him in good stead, I just hope the fans don't jump straight on his back.
I think some bloke who knows a helluva lot more about football than me, rated Cleverley more than a little bit. So, on the topic of Cleverley's abilities, I think I will defer to Sir Alex Ferguson.

Oh god, really? This?

Now I could be wrong here but didn't Sherwood move him further forward and get an instant return? He played one season at villa, played crap for about 2/3rds of it, then a change of manager and position and he was playing well and in a cup final. Put it this way, I wouldn't have been too fussed with this signing last January but now I'm a bit more hopeful that he'll be fine.

Clev said today he joined us because he got reassured that he will be playing in more of an attacking position does this rule out our number 10 the fans have been craving for? Or a change of tactics will be deployed

Exactly. To be fair I haven't been overly impressed by what I have seen but Ferguson clearly did, while Martinez and Sherwood clearly still do.

They can't all be wrong about his ability and / or potential, so let us all just wait and see how he performs in a Blue shirt.

The small number of Villa fans I know have also talked quite highly of him during his stint there. People seem to forget that stats aren't everything.

I hope he succeeds here, but some people seem eager to simply disregard the lad before he's even played a game.
