If this is the first of 3 or 4 other signings (not including Henen) then I'm happy, my fear is Cleverley will be cited all summer by Bobby in an effort to silence the doubters and we won't actually sign anyone else till deadline day when Ross is invariably sold

Let's put it this way...if his name was Tomas Cleverdowski and he has the same qualifications at say Bayern Munich, we'd all be going mad that we'd signed a 25 year old on a free who won the Bundesliga and had 13 senior caps for country.

Agree with all that.
I think though the reason people get annoyed is that he will be our major signing most probably, when in fact he should be just another free addition to a squad. Hope I am wrong.

Osman, Pienaar, Barry and most likely Gibson...that's 4 Midfield players that need to be replaced over the next 12 months.

Therefore adding Cleverley for free is a smart move imo. I'm sure there will still be another CM player with a fancy name and costing actual money that will come in for people to excited over and look up on FM.

I'm happy. Gibson is permamently crocked, Pienaar too (though we need a winger really there), Barry needs rotation if we're going to keep playing him. The fact that we were so reliant on a nearly 35 year old Osman at the back end of the season is worrying. If he can add depth in the midfield, that is what we need.

I like him but he isn't capable of playing games. Needs replacing I'm sad to say.
