He's going to be a decent player for us. Happy with that signing.

And if it won't work out, we'll make a profit on him.

A win-win situation. Simple as that.

Technical player with a good engine.

Given the fact he has proven he can contribute in spells at Wigan under RM, periods under Ferguson and under Sherwood this season, £50k per week for a 25 year old with 13 caps for England and over 75 games for Man Utd seems perfectly good value, especially given the fact he'll cost us no transfer fee.

Without Pienaar and Osman, we looked horribly devoid of a bit of craft at times last season, so whilst I don't think Cleverley will ever shoot the lights out, I can see him contributing in a number of positions across midfield in a similar way to how Osman has for us (which I still think has been criminally under-appreciated by our fanbase for the last decade).

There's almost nothing I like more in football than 'crap' players piping down the boo-boys with aplomb. So for that reason I'm 100% on board with ol' Tom.

As a previous victim of this it's a dangerous game.

Some players are actually just 'crap'.

Delighted with this signing, five years ties down a unique talent and gives us a very strong midfield indeed.

When deciding on a posters opinon of Cleverley we could always use that well known scientific measurement, the "McCarthy test".
What was your opinon reagarding the signing of James McCarthy ?
