Think he'd be a solid understudy to Barry, who we definitely can't play as often this season. Offers a bit more running if you had him and McCarthy in there.

Though I wouldn't disagree, Gibson's semi-permanently crocked and Barry's getting on. At their best, and fit, they're better players than the little of Cleverly I've seen, but beggars can't be chosers.

Long term, Cleverley, Besic and McCarthy fighting for places or rotating doesn't sound too shabby to me.

Agree with that...difference is Cleverley is free. There is absolutely zero risk in this move.

Im very concerned that Martinez sees him as a number 10 or a left winger.

I said hes not better, hes probably on a par with a few and im not saying hes terrible, I watched him, after James McCarthyGate im being very careful and not judging players without actually watching them play, spent a lot of time scouting The Clev and overall I like what I see, hes hard working and can thread a mean ball, overall its a superb piece of business on a free.

I just have many, many concerns, not with this signing per-see, but with the direction in which this useless Spanish fraud is going.

Im willing to see out the window tho.

Signing on fee, agent fee and the wage of a starter as he can get that at Villa.
Money being spent on a position that's not one of the must haves. We're not in Europe next season so with fewer games I don't see the need for another body nor do I see this lad improving the starting 11.

Surely Besic is there for DM cover. I imagine Martinez see's Cleverley in more of an Osman role.
