Everyone will support him.

No Everton fan will want him to fail. As soon as they put our shirt on we want nothing but success for them.

It's well documented that I didn't want a certain Irish midfielder to join us, but as soon as he did he had my full support and turned out to be boss. Did I care that I was wrong? Not a bit. It meant we had a good player.
I hope your right ijjy I admit it's not a signing to get pulses racing but I get the feeling the crowd are almost ready to turn on martinez completely and cleverly will be an easy target because of his Wigan connection

I think those that are critical of this seemingly inevitable signing haven't seen enough of him this season, especially since Sherwood was appointed.

He has good ability on the ball, can take it under pressure a la Pienaar and is a bit of a snide in a tackle which we all love.

Most importantly he distributes the ball QUICKLY. That's his major asset. How many of us have voiced our concerns at the laborious, pedestrian-like possession of the ball. Last season we simply didn't move the ball quickly enough, a criticism of Besic, McCarthy, Barry..... Cleverley will get us moving quicker, get the ball wide quicker and simply make us more positive.

Again, I would suspect that those who don't perhaps appreciate this are taking the ridiculous anti-Cleverley social media campaign into consideration rather than watching the lad yourself.

I reckon all 11 players on the pitch and Martinez will get their fair share of abuse if it's going tits up! Actually Howard will get the worst of it. And rightly so.

And if we underperform again, rightly so.

As someone who has plainly stated I don't think Tom Cleverley is anything like what I think we need, obviously the manager knows him better from their time together at Wigan and feels he can/will do a job for us.

Whilst I have my doubts as to how big an impact he will have, if this deal is concluded I will wish him well and hope he proves me and all the other doubters wrong.

I remember when Howard Kendall signed Paul Power and many of us thought WTF ?? And Paul Power proved to be an inspired signing and ended up Player of the Year.

However poor a player or over-rated some might claim Cleverley to be, he would struggle to dip under some of our midfield performances last season.

Paid over the odds/inflated fee due to circumstance.

Maintain that.

Hopefully he'll prove his value like he did in his first season, and it's looking likely he will - but the jury is still out.
£13m looks like a reasonable amount. We'll get at least £20m WHEN we come to sell the Judas

On his first season, yes.
On his second season, no. Not to us.

But agree, it's looking like we'll make money on him unless he runs his contract down...

Cleverley looked great at Wigan.

Scapegoat for a David Moyes' Man Utd.
Paul Lambert Aston Villa...

Found some confidence recently, I reckon he could surprise a few.

I'm happy we're getting another midfielder for a nominal fee - anyone that puts pressure on people like Barkley is a good thing.

Are we talking about the same Besic no one had ever heard of until Roberto brought him to everyone's attention when commentating on a Bosnia game at the World Cup. The one whom he backed up his opinion on by buying him??

Not having a dig at Martinez for spotting him and buying him, by the way I rate Besic. The criticism is that the lad has deserved more game time than he has had, especially when Barry was stinking the place out.

Martinez has always rated Cleverley, if he brought him in, then you would see Besic's warming the bench again, and the lad is only going to take so much before he wants out.
