people are just hating on him because we got beat now, apart from gueye he was the best player on the pitch, was very tidy on the ball and made some cracking balls. others were a lot lot worse, I think the main problem was no powerful striker, to many players in the final 3rd the same, del lennon and Valencia all small and fast, yet most of the time it was lumped into the box from wide

Mikey - think you should pick your battles more wisely. I am not a Cleverly hater, have said I thought he started last season well and looked like he was going to be useful for us. However you cannot seriously think that playing short non incisive passes while doing nothing to actually effect the play last night makes him a better option than Davies currently? He may well have played a couple of forward passes but he didnt do anything to influence the game at all other than not being strong enough trying to make a tackle for the second goal. I slate McCarthy for being a crab all the time, Cleverly on the basis of last night is even worse because he hasnt got the engine of McCarthy to get round as much. He has no game management at all. I agree that some of the vitriol he gets is completely unwarranted and unjust but you dont need to defend him based on his performance last night, it was like the rest of his everton career - very 'm'eh.'

Davies gets in ahead of him every time for me.
