One of the few players you could argue had a good game last night

Put it on a plate for Del at least three times and worked hard all evening

As usual, people overreacting

Mikey mate, he does literally nothing. Just because he plays it so safe that he doesn't technically do anything "wrong", doesn't excuse the fact that he contributes nothing positive. I can't remember him putting it on a plate for Del. We suffer when he plays because he is such a passenger and doesn't actually serve any purpose. Completing a load of 5 yard sideways passes doesn't qualify as a "good" game for me at home to Championship opposition.

@RFUS said mate, he played some very good passes

Go back and watch the ones he laid on for Del, especially the one Del then went onto squander by having a weak shot while Valencia was open in a better position

Classic scapegoating. He played some quality passes and was far from the worst player on the pitch.

He's an adequate squad player. We have much bigger problems really

First half last night he was playing in a 4 with 3 of them having a poor game & a lad up front not able to pull defenders about. How many times did he take scrappy ball & play quick passes in behind for Deulofeu, Coleman & Lennon?

Haters gonna hate.

I agree he wasn't our worst player - that was Barkley, again, by a country mile - but he's just nowhere near good enough to be starting games. Emergency backup at best. Davies has to play before him, and concerning to see Davies kept in reserves while Cleverley starts games in the first team.

I thought he was one of our better players last night (not hard) and his passing was excellent. Set Coleman and Deulofeu away a few times. Anyone that watched that game couldn't really fault his performance. Yes he didn't do a job as well as Barry, but he was in a different position and isn't Gareth Barry.

If Clev had come in and stanked the joint up, then you could argue he was holding Davies back because Davies has come in and done well

Clev came in and did well, hence he isn't holding Davies back. Owness is now on Davies to be better

Except he didn't.

As anyone who has a basic understanding of football could see last night. Cracking non-tackle for the second goal, too.

He's an adequate squad player

Clev has shown he's good enough to play

I don't disagree, but do you think he'll be happy to just be in the squad and get the odd game in cup matches or when injuries hit the first choice players ?

Under Martinez, if fit, he was pretty much guaranteed a place, under Koeman, he'll be on the bench. He came here for first team football so I can't see him sticking around if he's not getting it.

He's a fraud so yes I could see him hanging around
