Tom Cleverley

Agree completely with @LinekersLegs and think I've said it before. Reckon cleverley and baines will form an excellent partnership down the left if they get a run of games together there - was one of the things I was most excited for about the season. Their playstyles just dovetail perfectly.

after years of watching pienaar/baines i think as a fan base we know better than most its not always all about pace and stepovers! im sure bainesy would prefer tom infront of him than say mirallas. but we defintely need at least one lennon/kev/del in the team. and one coming off the bench aswell imo

What a player we have on our hands here, never put a foot wrong.

I think he's a very good player.

Next season i feel Martinez will drop Barkley back and play him next to McCarthy.

Cleverley would be competing with Barkley and Barry/Besic with McCarthy.

Otherwise he will need to go out and buy another centre midfielder soon with Osman/Gibson unloaded and Barry getting on.

Sigh.

Should never be seen in an Everton shirt again.

Shouldn't even be allowed near Finch Farm.

One awful player. Just dreadful in every way. Shithouse.

I don't recall it being especially cowardly in the slightest

Got anything else?

I'll answer that for you, no, you haven't

Do you know why you haven't? Because there's absolutely nothing wrong with him

He gets in there, does a job, doesn't do anything overly impressive, nor does he do anything especially bad and then he turns up at training the next day and the cycle repeats

He is fine. Not amazing. Not brilliant. Fine. Serviceable. Ever so slightly above average

He's roughly 4th or 5th in line as a CM who will only play in the Milk Cup or if people get injured, and he's happy to do that without kicking up a fuss

He doesn't deserve literally ANY of the stick he gets

Stop having a go at this lad because you hate Roberto Martinez

It's thoroughly pathetic

Cleverly isn't terrible, he's just not good enough to start for a team with our ambitions.

If he's fine being a squad player, fine having him as 4th/5th choice cover for anywhere in the midfield. He's versatile enough.

On a positive note, remember that long pass to Lukaku vs Stoke (I think)? Brilliant 60yard pass that Lukaku took down on his chest and scored from.
Absolutely mad how, literally the first game he started after this defence of him was launched , he played like that again.

The second goal tonight tells you all you need to know about Snivelley.

We have each other on block so he's never gonna read this but apologies to @orly for ever trying to defend Cleverley, jesus the lad had the chance to step up as an option tonight in place of Gareth Barry and failed miserably, didn't even notice he was on the pitch till 35 mins in that's how anonymous he was

I quite like Cleverley, he's a tidy player, but he doesn't suit the style that Koeman wants to play, and I doubt he'll be happy to warm the bench so I can't see him being in the squad this time next year.
