winds me up all that don't boo your own player crap. end of the day he earns a fortune for being a horrible horrible player, normally people of his talent at least run round and get stuck in he doesn't, yesterday he was shocking, absolutely shocking. I actually hate him he doesn't deserve to be blessed with playing football and earning a fortune, needs to get binned asap

Never again

That should be the end of it now

Flog him to Middlesborough or somewhere in January but he shouldn't be putting our shirt on again

He's been very professional with the club in comparison to players like Lukaku. His substitution did improve us tremendously but he doesn't deserve booing.

I'd love for him to discover the footballing ability that made Ferguson think him one of the best in Britain, because he's a much better lad than most of them. Just a shame that he almost certainly will not.

Agreed. Not nice to see a player sprinting off to avoid booing. I hate our fans at times.

always thought we a bit harsh on him, but after that...wonder if anyone would want to buy him in january, who are stupid? west ham maybe?

I've backed him up recently but he was absolutely awful yesterday, especially in that second half. Some still go over the top about him though. Obviously there are a lot of Barkley haters out there too, but there was a time in the second half where Cleverley gave away the ball repeatedly near our own box, and it was reminiscent of Barkley at Sunderland at the start of the season. Had to be taken off for the good of the team as he was a liability, just like Barkley was in the game I mentioned.

He's not "the worst player ever to wear the shirt" though.

from the guardian 10 talking points:

4) Cleverley fails to impose himself on Everton team
It was interesting that, in response to a series of lacklustre performances, Ross Barkley was the man dropped from the Everton side by Ronald Koeman against Manchester United. Yet whether you think his demotion was harsh or not, not many could defend the identity of his replacement. It was tricky not to feel sorry for Tom Cleverley, removed after 65 insipid minutes to the sound of cheers from his own fans, but you can also understand why those fans were happy to see him go. It’s seven years since he made his senior debut and, in that time, he hasn’t really made clear exactly what sort of player he is, and the question that poses itself is: what’s he for? The moment that seemed to irk the Goodison crowd most came when he played a backwards pass near the edge of the United area as an attack built, thus removing all momentum from it, and seemed to sum him up neatly. Perhaps Barkley does need a spell out of the team, but replacing him with Cleverley, a player for whom a sideways pass seems to represent the height of ambition, is not the way to go. NM

Everything thats wrong with football, second to every tackle and loose ball, terrible passing, anonymous and he gets paid weekly more than most people do in a year

“I think you do not have a better English player. Technically, he is as good as you get. The way he executes, how he reads the game, for me he is one of the most sensational you are going to see in Premier League history."

By "technically" and "reads the game" I assume Martinez meant sideways passing and ducking out of EVERY aspect of the game

Can't fault the guy for the effort he puts in, sadly he's just hopeless at football. Perhaps another one ruined by injury - looked a decent player beginning of last season until he was crocked at Goodison - hasn't been the same since. Shouldn't play for us again IMO.
