not sure how anyone can knock him after today, because it's cool? He was playing in a midfield two with gana and they were both utterly excellent for me. Gana dawdles on the ball too much, but a main positive of davies is that he receives the ball with his head up so he knows when he's being closed down and releases quick enough and provides good out balls.

The heat he cops in here is one of the most absurd things I've ever come across in this forum. I don't think anyone thinks he is a world beater but even when he plays well its somehow cool to keep knocking him down a peg. I don't get it.

I did a quick look at how we perform with or without Davies. Essentially our results improve 35% with him in the team (since 2016 Hull away).

Ultimately we look more balanced with him in the team. Schneiderlin and Gana cannot play together and he helps get ore out of both as his versatility helps cover for their limitations.

This does not mean that he is good enough long term, will be good enough long term, doesn't have bad games or bad moments. However he would be inked in to our team for me until we found someone better. Maybe that person is Andre Gomes? But until we see a more rounded midfielder the lad has earned his place.

Butters stinking up another thread I see....

Did alright today. We need better options in midfield and I'm not sure Gomez is the answer, but with a couple of signings in the next couple of windows and maybe Morgan out the door I would expect Davies to grow in confidence as we improve our strength in that area. He may play less in the coming couple of seasons assuming Silva sticks around and does well, but he will learn more and improve.

I want him to succeed!

He’s a really good lad, and really humble from when I’ve met him.

But he needs time. I don’t think he’s ready to be starting every week for me.

He’s giving his all, but his passing is poor and his tackling whilst goodni spells isn’t where it needs to be.

Same as JJK, I want him to be a success, but will he succeed under Goodison? I don’t know.

Sort it lad. You can be a Goodison great with more composure!

He was doing fine today until he got that yellow card then was reluctant to be within 5 yards of anyone.. Gueye was having to cover the whole of midfield Davies should of been replaced a lot sooner than he was
