I think a lot of us recognise Davies is a much more talented footballer than Anichebe mate. Plus until his last season under Moyes, Vic often came across as not putting full effort in which obviously never endears you to the Goodison crowd.
If each had the others attributes to add to their own they would have both been/be decent players
Davies has endeavour and nothing else. Anichebe was a decent target man on his day but that was twice a year!

Had a really good game for the England u21s albeit vs Andorra
Yes indeed, this was the best I’ve seen him play at any level for England. In the first 15 minutes Tom did everything, good and bad, that’s been covered in this thread - a misplaced pass to the opposition, a supposed shot on goal that was ballooned over, picking up the ball and moving it forward with crisp passing , timely tackling to break up attacks and then a finely weighted through ball inside the full back for Kenny to run on to and set up Lookman’s goal.
I thought he actually got stronger as the game went on , with another defence splitting pass to set up the sixth goal for Reiss Nelson, plus a few good runs and passes in the last 10 minutes. The opposition was pretty weak , but you can only play what’s in front of you and he had a sound game.

Just watched the U21 game and thought he played really well. I know you can say “it’s only Andorra” but to me it doesn’t matter who you’re against - football is still the same game. I wonder if playing for his boyhood club in the PL affects him? He just seems a lot more confident and relaxed whenever he’s with England.

Come on. It's Andorra youth team. He's a Premier League regular, if he doesn't look relaxed against them then we have massive problems.

International youth football playing in front of non-partisan crowds or Premier League football against some of the best players in the world... I think we both know why he looks more relaxed in an England shirt at that level.

You clearly have seen how good some of the international U21 teams are then buddy.

I still say he tries too hard when he plays for us, running around like a mad man, he just need to chill out a bit more, be a bit more measured in what he does.

So far in 2018 Tom Davies has played against Ukraine, Latvia and Andorra at u21 level. Hardly the giants of Spain, France and Germany is it?

You're looking for something that isn't there. Footballer playing better against players who aren't as good in a more relaxed atmosphere.
