I recall him being given a go ahead of Dowell, Walsh, Williams etc. simply because he was more physically developed, and brought boundless energy and extra aggression.
Since then those last two qualities have been tapered somewhat to make him more polished, but he quite evidently lacks any standout attribute or quality, be it pace or playing the ball directly through the lines.
All this said, it does feel harsh piling on a 20 year old kid, but there's no reason he should be put in central midfield for a team with top 6 ambitions, and thus directly in the firing line..

Playing 2 in midfield like we do, both players need to be able to do a bit of everything and he just does'nt have the skillset. A loan would allow him and us the chance to see if he can develop it somewhere as we need more finished articles at the moment.
