I think Tom will develop into a great Everton player over the next season or two.
How many times have we moaned and whinged about our so called stars 'not putting in a shift' or 'going through the motions' over the years?
Here's a great young talent who always puts in 100% for the Blues and will get better with experience.
I for one am over the moon we've offered him a new contract and am looking forward to seeing more of him in the first team.

Great attitude on the pitch, will run into walls for the cause........I know the phrase is run through walls......but he doesn’t have the strength or the speed at the moment to manage it.
Probably needs more of one or the other if he is to be a big player for us in the future.

We are holding out for Chelsea to come in and give a few million. They like taking our dud kids for decent cash.

It's the right decision to keep him at this point. But it's up to the player to make the next step to improve his game and become a regular. I still think he'll have a decent career here.

I youse to boss Davies in the school yard at football. Not before smashing his blink 182 'take off your pants and jacket' cd and taking his lunch money.

Haha, I really do believe people make these things up. Whatever people think of him now, within months of leaving school Davies was captaining the England u17 team and when they were short , stepped into a full England training session. Outstanding progress from “ not being that good in school boy terms”.

There is a guy from my town that played for QPR as a school boy and was called up to England U19 but broke his leg in training. He turned to drugs and that was his chance gone. He still plays for my local team but he is absolutely insane at football, I don’t believe for one second that Davies, who was playing for England U17 ( so basically I’m the top 0.01% of 17 year olds that year) was not considered a good footballer at his local school lol. Another from my town is someone called leigh mills who we tried to sign but he went to spurs , he was England U16 captain and again was unreal and he ended up at gillingham last I heard. So even if Davies ends up in the championship or league one , he’s still a great footballer in the scheme of things and will end up a millionaire if he isnt already.

A performance like 'that' city game is gonna get hopes and expectations high... he was wide right in that move, I've seen him hitting the area late since then and playing deep. He's 20 and had 3 or 4 *mostly regrettable* managers in that time.

I'm not sure he's a box-to-box monster, but standing out in that role is near impossible given the distances most players run these days.

His passing doesn't stand out either. That and his decision- making can improve. He's 20. Having sigs and Gomez to learn from will help.

He can and should for my money work on being better around the box, too. Shooting, passing etc.

Some areas to work on, sure. Give him a whirl and games and a loan spell to work on it. If we get a tidy, confident midfielder after a spell elsewhere he'll be tidy investment, and he's a local. What's not to like.
