2019/20 Tom Davies

Easy scapegoat in arguably the worst Everton side of the last 20 years.

He’s 21. A blue. Hardly surrounded by world class talent, or even seasoned leaders he can look up to, and he’s had 5 managers by now.

England u21 captain. If we decided to sell, there would be takers in the top six. 100%, he’s one of them who should be cut some slack.

Well, I suppose if you'll defend Michael Jackson, Tom Davies is a lot lot more straightforward to do.

Sad thing is, deep in your hearts you know that Schneiderlin - as bad as he is - is actually better than Davies, who was directly responsible for both goals today. As he was for the goal against Spurs I think.

He's completely awful.

Have you watched the previous 10 games before this?

I really find that difficult to believe. Davies could kick on and be a good player, he could also easily be the next Jay Spearing/Lee Cattermole. At the moment I´m inclined to choose the latter.

Can't we just give him a fresh start this season? He did well in pre season and came on and put in a composed display yesterday when it was needed. Yes, he's been disappointing for a while now, but hopefully he's turned a corner.

^^ August 11.

When is the penny going to drop for some?

Absolutely no way would anyone in the top 6 be looking to buy Tom Davies

I reckon Liverpool, United and Arsenal would have him. He wouldn’t start for them but he’d be a handy squad player, he’s a grafter and he’s comfortable on the ball. Has a case for being one of our best players this season, admittedly from a limited selection.

Needs support around him and would need to learn how to discipline himself in those systems but he’s one that’s capable of the step up. He’s at the right age that teams would be looking at him if he decided to move on (or if we went down).

Have you ever seen Schniederlinn try to play football? In a competitive game?

Yes mate I have. The fanbase had a collective lob-on for him for a whole half-season. Has Davies had 19 better-than-6/10 matches for us in total? I doubt it.

Lol none of those teams would go anywhere near him and only one of those are currently in the top 6, he’s a championship player at best.

Davies and DCL would move on if we went down?

Well, finally a silver lining.

Maybe you´re right and he does need a new manager/system to teach him all that. He´s going to have to show a hell of a lot more whilst he´s here to get that move though. Right now, there would be a lot of eyes rolled if any of the top 6 went for him.

I don’t think there would be eyes rolled at the buying club, whomever that might be. If Liverpool moved Lallana on, for example, and got Davies in, I think they would be quite satisfied.

Not what they look for in a centre mid at all. Physically he´s well off the pace.
