I think Davies has a lot of potential ability actually but unlike Osman I don't think he really knows or understands his game at all. Osman knew his strengths and weaknesses and played to them. Davies doesn't. After 100+ league games, you would have expected better. I hope he takes the time away to really kick on, as goodness knows we need it.
....yep, it’s all about being effective and he tends to get swamped whereas Osman tended to play the ball at a quicker pace. Tempo.
I was up and down about Osman over the years, but I do wonder if he would have had a better career if he'd come along a bit later. I'd guess that he would have made his way into centre midfield a lot sooner if he hadn't played mostly at a time where that area was dominated by physical specimens, although it's a testament to his ability that he managed to get by as winger despite having very little pace.

Technique-wise, I don't think that Davies is anywhere near his level.

I was always an Osman fan to be honest. He is sort of emblematic of the Moyes era though. An average player, who produced good performances but got find out when excellence when required.

I always thought he'd have done well in Spain. In a league where, as you say he could have played centrally and used his brain. Strangely some of his best performances came in that first year under Martinez, where he was utilised from the bench and had pace and power ahead of him. Martinez got him into positions on the pitch where he wasn't as required to provide defensive cover.

As for Davies, he's bigger and stronger than Osman. He's also a bit quicker. However he's very inconsistent and makes lots of mistakes and poor decisions. I don't really remember Osman being a liability. The biggest criticism you could make is he's average.

Don't like to diss him really as he seems a decent guy but let's face it, our midfield is pretty rubbish and he can't even get in it.

Im not sure why people are desperate to sell, hes a young lad, on low wages (compared to team mates), offers cover, gets the club, and is worth f all if we were to sell him.

Needs to be loaned out. Give him a season in championship. Happy to see if he develops there. Not developing since his first game at everton. Needs to improve on retaining possession and shape. Really cant keep making mistakes at this level.

I would be made up if he was crap, look at he fun we have with Niasse.

He's just absolutely bang average.

If we are looking to progress, one of several duffers we need to shift asap.

Just want to see him release the ball faster think is a good player in him needs to work on his speed and strength could be used like mccarthy was with a more attacking sode to his game
