....only watched the last half hour of last night’s U21 game but thought he played well. A very mature and controlled defensive midfield performance in what looked a hostile atmosphere.

He certainly looked in decent shape, so difficult to understand his absence from matchday squads when we’ve been a bit threadbare in central midfield. Seems to have fallen out of favour.

The clue is in the word U21.

The difference between U21 and real football is VAST.

...of course, I appreciate that but he did fine. Saying that, it was an international match, so they are supposed to be the best their countries have.

The key for me, is that he appears fit and healthy but is not getting near a game for us. Silva made him captain for games last season, so the Managers opinion appears to have shifted.

I have no opinion on it, but it is worthy of discussion.

Hes done nothing to warrant a game for the last 3 years really.

That might seem harsh and im not a TomTom basher as such, but its an indisputable fact sadly.

Top 4? Not currently, you need two players to get you 13+ goals and one to get you 20 +. Not sure we have that yet. Our squad depth is now improving, which is why we don't see this awful Davies.

Next round of the Cup? Maybe. We didn't see him in the last one away at Lincoln, so it isn't guaranteed.

I make no apologies mate - I think Davies is awful and I find it weird the Echo run endless articles about him. I find it odd today that they say he's a "top quality player" when there is nothing to suggest he is. I find comparisons with Pienaar - made by the Football Mensa gang - to be grossly inaccurate.

The fact is that currently, he's fourth choice (after Gomes, Delph and Schneiderlin) in the middle, fifth when Gbamin returns. He's been guffing on about being an attacking midfielder now - and that's great if you want a slow of thought, slow of action, non-goalscoring attacking mid. Realistically he's behind Gylfi, Iwobi, Bernard, even Richarlison for that attacking mid slot. There's nothing there.

Just shows how bad Davies must be because you would have to be absolutely piss poor to be behind Schneiderlin in the pecking order,

Should just be wearing adidas traccies, have a shaved head and no character at all, would be a much better footballer then

I think his fashion antics takes up more of his attention than his football tbh. Anyone with a hobby be it running, martial arts, cycling will tell you realistically you can only commit to one thing 100% and I feel for him football has become just a job and trying to become the next Ralph Lauren with Hector Bellerin is his main passion.

Fair play to the lad but he'll never make it as a prem footballer if he doesnt sort himself out and get on the training pitch every day improving his game.
