In a way, part of me thinks that we're the ones who've utterly crapped on his development. At 18 he was riding on the crest of a wave and most of us thought he could be the club's future.. but the off-the-field crap ever since probably hasn't helped the kid at all.

Maybe even he is starting to think that he may need to move on? if he feels as though the fans have given up on him then a part of me would actually feel quite sorry for the kid, being a big blue and that. Can't feel great to not only fail at your boyhood club but also for the fans to resent you.

The point does remain though that he simply hasn't, and doesn't look likely, to kick on at Everton though.

In his first games he looked fantastic. Clearing balls off the line, getting goals, tackling, skinning people, playing balls behind. One of his coaches came out and said 'Yep, that's a Tom Davies performance.' An all action midfielder, it was like he came from a distant era.

I wonder if it partially has to do with coaching. Central midfielders these days almost always seem to get coached into being varying degrees of Tom Cleverly. Tepid as anything. Shame how he's turned out.

Good post mate, when I first saw him, he reminded me of a Brian Robson type, I couldn’t think of anyone in contemporary football he reminded me off.

He’s still awfully young.

Do you have any evidence?
This whole spurious drama has been concocted from an ill informed internet rumour.
It is customary to have reliable evidence before condemning someone.
Sad to see how quickly internet lynch mobs gather on the merest malevolent whisper as long as it confirms their inherent prejudice towards the players.
And that's why I said "if"

From an outsiders point of view it seems to me that hes been too caught up with off the field things such as all this fashion stuff he does and not sure all of that bodes well to help him forging into the combative midfield type that he needs to be. Clearly there is talent there but like so many other up and coming players the mindset doesn't live up to the talent.

Outsider?

Yet he’s played over 100 games and was consistently getting much worse with every game.

Hopefully he’ll look good in black and white.

That's Bryan Robson who had scored about 1 in every 4 games for WBA in about 200 games before he moved to United, Bryan Robson btw. You can see the similarities.

Slowly coming to the realisation that he wouldn't stand out in the vast majority of Championship sides. Got to the point were I was sat on my arse praising the lad for making a 5 yard pass.
