We need a minimum of 8 English players in the squad. We have 10 I think at the moment, with this including largely bit-part players like Delph, Kenny, Gordon, and Branthwaite.

*update - bizarrely Gylfi seems to qualify for homegrown status, as does Iwobi, but with Gordon and Branthwaite classed as u21s, this still leaves us with 10 homegrown players in our squad.

He was in a central role but he wasn't a cm, and let's be honest siggy gets stick from 99% of fans for the fact he is utterly crap, same for Davies.

If Davies wasn't local he wouldn't be anywhere near this team.
I get what your saying but each player gets stuck with something and toms is he a local that’s why he gets picked. If Bernard was English and not a ex Brazilian international I doubt we would of signed him. Gomes came from Barcelona and that seems To attract people’s attention and make them think he must be amazing yet he’s played more like he was signed from Accrington Stanley. Delph ‘premier league winner with city’ been a unfit load of garbage for us but people will say he must be good cos he won the league

You don’t “need” 8 players. You can have a maximum of 17 foreign players, we can sell anyone off that list of 10 and not have to replace them, in fairness parts of the squad is bloated enough alright so would do no harm.

As for Iwobi well he’s actually English and obviously homegrown, just plays for Nigeria through ancestry and Gylfi came through the youth system at Reading so he qualifies.

He is Sheffield United, Crystal Palace, West Ham, Brighton quality.

Yes he can compete in the league, but he will never, ever, turn us into a permanent European side.

And for that reason alone, I'd be happy to move him on at the earliest convenience.

We don't have the time to carry passengers who can put in a 5/10 shift every now and then.

From Elsewhere, not sure if true

Trent Alexander-Arnold gave the ball away 38 TIMES in Liverpool's loss to Southampton. The most giveaways by any player in a single Premier League game this season. And he didn't even play the full 90 minutes. Sort of puts Tom giving the ball away 8 times in perspective i suppose lol

imagine if it was tom with those stats he'd be hung literally

He's really tried in the last couple of games, but it is evident that he offers very little in terms of creativity or goals from midfield.

Tom's first instinct is to always go sideways or backwards.

He's a boring, average player, and won't get near our starting 11, when all are fit.

It's all about whether you do enough good to outweigh the bad isn't it. I mean if Tom had got 4 goals and 13 assists last season then we'd all forgive him for giving the ball away a lot in a bad game. As it is he's only got 4 goals and 5 assists since making his debut 5 years ago, so he gets a bit less slack.
