I thought he got hung out to dry by Digne and Godfrey who both watched as he was left covering Bernardo and Mahrez.

Ye I think he had the ball covered, digne then watches the same ball rather than following the run of Mahrez which then forced Davies to react late, when it could have been avoided if digne went.

Trying to do it all him and Doucs, just get overloaded. Not sure why he keeps getting pulled first.

I reckon he just gets shattered. He gets around the pitch as does doucs. They cover so much ground, it’s inevitable they start to tire and maybe it’s a way of trying to keep them fresh whilst also trying something different in game when needed. But he’s certainly playing very well currently. Nice to see the people wanting him gone, now admitting he’s a squad player at the very least.

I think the best midfield we have at the moment is Doucoure, Allan and Davies. He gets so much stick when he has a poor game, but, is given little credit for the good ones, in my opinion he has had far more good games than bad games this season. World beater? Definitely not, good solid squad member? All day long.

its doing my head in why hes being taken off ... past games when hes went off we had went to bits .. dacoure cant do it on his now when tom goes off hes on his own

am not his biggest fan by the way ... but the kid hasn't done anything wrong past 3 games

The test for Davies isn't going round and doing the obvious tonight. Him and the other midfielders are always going to get played off the park by City and unfortunately also by Liverpool at the weekend. What we need to see is him controlling games against teams in the bottom half of the league, especially away from home. It's a huge month or so for him as an Everton player.

He wasn't doing it very well because we couldn't get out of own half. Not saying the others were doing it better someone had to be pulled...

that was the problem ... he was the only one dropping deep , the duke has to move to right wing

Maybe he isn’t good enough for us, maybe he is. I’ll tell you what though if I was him I would be off, Sigg taking his place and 80% of our fans slating him.

I guarantee Moyes would take him and we will not long be regretting it. Wools.

We all know Sigurdsson's limitations. I've said before that the only reason he stays on more than Davies is because there's more of a chance he can score or assist a goal.

And I agree that Davies v United and Spurs was the best I've seen him play in a long time. It's difficult to say with the last 2 games given how poor/inferior we were.

What is interesting (at least to me lol ) is that DCL really kicked on around 12 months or so ago.

Davies being a year younger appears to be on a similar trajectory in terms of improvement.

However, its still just a handful of games. If he keeps up this form till the end of the season then i do think he'll be competing with Rice for an England place

But the raw material was always there with DCL .
Some people could not see what DCL brought to any team that he was involved with, they needed the addition of goals for them to recognise him as a proper player.
