2020/21 Tom Davies

He’s really a nothing player when all is said and done.
No particularly very good attributes. Pretty mediocre at everything he does and for a young lad, not even that mobile or quick.
Wouldn’t look out of place in the championship or in a Norwich shirt.
That’s where he will be in 2yrs probably playing at right back.

My god

And like I keep saying about you as a fan. You just lack any ambition mate. Happy to see the likes of Davies playing and the team plodding along in mid table. He was woeful

Go and watch Brighton Man Utd from the night before. And bissouma will show how to play the number 6. He’s aggressive, fast, doesn’t get bullied and spend half the match on the floor giving fouls away. And he never gives the ball away.

Night and day

Wow, he only said he was decent. Bit aggressive?

He was nowhere near woeful. Had a mixed bag (as somebody said earlier). Is he the going to be the main man, maybe not but he is certainly not 'woeful'.

The thing is with us fans, and I have done it myself with a lot of players, when we do have a bee in the bonnet about a player we only see the negative. A player is not going to be at 100% passing/tackling/crossing/shooting success every game. I would say that yesterday Davies was around 50% with his game, he will know he can do better and the management team will know this. They will work on it and hopefully he can continue improving as he has undoubtedly done this season.

Improving really. He had 5/6 good games on the bounce fir the first time in 5yrs. Amd now back to his usual rubbish.

When he’s with Gomes/siggurdsson they must be the slowest, weakest most pathetic midfield in the whole league.

Last night was a typical Tom performance for me, and won’t have changed peoples views on him whatever they are. When we lose people blame him and he’s a six out of 10, when we win people think he’s 8, when we draw he’s 7. He wasn’t our best player last night , he wasn’t our worst. In the system we played you would say he would normally be third choice behind, Allan, Doucoure and maybe 4 th behind Gbamin. He stepped in and did a reasonably job in how he was asked to play, but there are still too many “ FFS Tom!” moments when he gives the ball away. Mind you in fairness , James, Godfrey, Gomes etc also did the same last night , maybe they get more latitude than Davies. He’s a good squad player to have, he does precisely what the manager wants him too, you don’t play him to win the game with a worldly belter of a goal. There may come a time when our squad is so good that Tom never gets in it, but we’re a long way away from that at the moment.

he's a squad player, not a starter

obvs he's starting cos of injuries to doucs and allan and gbamin returning to full fitness

ordinarily he wouldnt have started against palace but there is not alternatives unless you want sigurdsson and gomes in midfield

I don’t think he has a role here anymore. He’s too slow to be a premier league footballer. He can’t pass and his tackling is awful. Go and be a star in the championship and make a career

Im not quite sure ancelotti wants him to get bullied and lose the ball. And spend half the game on the deck.

If someone offers us decent money, I think he will be gone.

Was actually one of our better players last night so don't know what the fume is about. Don't think anyone else other than Jameth played better? Maybe Digne or Big Yerry. Everyone else was as error prone or more so?

Lost the ball once or twice when trying to break the lines through to our front 3 but otherwise was composed on the ball and always offered an option to the ball carrier when off it.

Good squad player and easy scapegoat. Do Everton fans hold homegrown players to higher standards or is it just that he's a skater?

It's hard to take but any player who was 70%+ every game wouldn't be with us long. The reality is without CL we will be perennial top ten at best.

I agree, I am certainly not sure whether Davies is a player that can be consistent. I would hope that with consistently better players (and especially players who suit is style) we would see a more consistent player.

My heart says he would become a regular top performer but my head says that he would be a decent to very useful squad player, at best. Which would not necessarily be a bad thing, a club always needs the odd useful squad player milling about.

What I don't get is the pure hatred which comes out of some people on here. He does really seem like a nice guy but you get this vitriol and name calling, I suppose that is another story. On the pitch, I have hope that we will see more consistent displays of a better quality.

Think it goes for others too,if Richarlison had hit the target Ancelotti set him,he'd be playing CL next season...Not with us.
