That is how he has to play in each and every game from now on in. He was allowed time and space tonight and dealt with it well now I want to see his game improve when he is pressed and less time to think...........that is an area he has struggled with. Confidence from this game may carry to the next game but he will know he will not be afforded this time and space in many games

Although Sheff Utd looked sub-par in the middle of the park (sans Lundstram and Berge), I was still made up to see him run the show for spells and make the role look simple. His combative nature, which had progressively ebbed out of his game since he first burst onto the scene, finally looks to be returning which is equally pleasing. The way in which he used his body to shield the ball on several occasions was very clearly taken from Allan's playbook; training with higher calibre players in defined roles could well help to bring on his overall game.
Think he's been quietly efficient during his previous (albeit brief) cameos and has taken his chances when they've come - let's hope Carlo can continue slowly building up his confidence, simplifying his game, and that he can continue to do a decent job deputising until we return to a full-strength side.

Motm by miles tonight and never as bad a player as some think. In fact, he's been doing a cracking job throughout this latest unbeaten spell, even before Allan's injury.

He's never shied away from the ball and has always looks to be involved, often to his own detriment, but I'd take Tom over the delphs of the squad all day, every day.

I think the gaffer has simplified his game, and he seems all the better for it - same again Vs shitteh please Goldilocks.

There was no pressure on him in the first half, Sheffield United seemed to overlook his presence. Not sure he will be so effective against a very energetic Man City team.
That’s how I seen it, fair-does to the Lad he had a good game and im not his biggest fan.
but they gave him a lot of freedom, he was having 2/3 touches before passing it on. It’s a bit like Bernard, people saying he was great when he came on, yet has been pants for months.

It was a cracking effort by the team though, especially the ones who’ve played all 5 games in 14 days.

Was happy to see Tom Davies putting in a MotM performance against Sheffield United yesterday. Thought a couple of the freekicks awarded against him were ridiculous decisions, but then again the Ref did seem a bit out of his depth at times during the game. Let's just hope Davies doesn't get overwhelmed in the midfield if he plays against Man City.

Based on his usual standard, he had a good game. But picking the ball off the defenders and either playing safe 10 yard balls forward or failing to make the pass with a longer ball does not really justify the praise he's getting. He had so much time on the ball throughout the game he should have influenced it more. But he did enough to keep hos place. City are obviously a different proposition

Thought he was allowed some space by the opposition yes, but he was also constantly looking to make himself available to take the ball from the back four. He loses possession here and there (and it’s much easier to forgive when we win) but I’d much rather that than a player that actively hides meaning we have no option but to bypass the midfield.

Agree 100 %. Normally he constantly gives the ball away (as do too many others) inviting pressure on to the back four. If he eliminates that he has a future as a decent Alan Harper style squad player.
