I’d love nothing more than to see Davies progress in the same way DCL has, I just don’t think you can say he has after a few games where he’s been alright.

For some reason with Davies supporters, you have to say he’s the best young player in England or you’re a hater. Anyone who says it as it is, that he’s a back up midfielder who you wouldn’t want playing every week, is told that they’re wrong and don’t know anything about football, all cos they’re not gushing over a decent performance against a team with 1 point.

He’s 22 and still learning. He’s definitely a back up squad player, but has proved his worth this season in that capacity.

Im not one to knock players playing well, but perspective is needed.

That’s Davies at the top of his game against a midfield lamenting the loss of its best midfielder Lundstram who wasn’t judged as good enough to make it out of our academy.

Im glad he’s hitting best form but he’s no match for the top midfielders in this league. Kante Wijnaldum Fernandes Pogba De Bruyne Partey Ndombele, that’s the level of player that our direct opponents have. We can’t put out Tom Davies and Sigurdsson against that no matter how well they might have done in the last few games.

It's a squad game.

Their squad players are better than ours. Chelsea have two out on loan (Barkley and Loftus Cheek) who are better than Davies. The cup game against United was a prime example, we had one injury in midfield in Allan and immediately we were into Davies playing. He’s up against Fernandes Pogba Van Der Beek and we got the run around. We need a clutch of 5 or 6 very good midfielders who can swap in and out. At the moment we have Allan and Doucoure. Gomes could be if he ever found the level he was at when he joined. Gbamin is an unknown quantity. Davies is a mid table premier league player.
