Just don't know what happened to his game, he used to be full of energy and enthusiasm and now saunters around trying to ping passes thinking he's Pirlo. Can you imagine him ever going on a run like he did for his goal against City all them years ago? Don't know if it was coached out of him or what but he's just not kicked on in the past 4 years at all.

Remember the Rodwell goal against Man Utd. It was like someone got hold of him and said ‘don’t you ever dare run with ball again’.

I remember when he scored that goal on Match Of The Day,and Alan Shearer said he will never score a goal like that again .And i thought what a bitter ex pro but he was wright .

We should what lpool do with their fringe players and sell them. Ibe, solanke, Brewster, all went for around 20 million each . We need to sell Davies,Kenny and holgate, won't get much but it's 3 players off the wage bill.

it was coached out of him

When Holgate went to West Brom on loan, Graham Jones, the assistant at West Brom and ex Everton coach wanted Davies to go as well but the West Brom board blocked it, wonder how he would have coped with a loan

It was coached out of him - years of not managing him properly and playing him in too many midfield roles. Unable to put a stamp in a proper midfield role, he wasn't able to develop properly. Davies has been tried in many midfield roles over the years - Attacking Mid, Box-to-box and No. 6 - either by choice or necessity. It would've been better if he sticks to one main role and provides cover for another. It could be also down to him, not being assertive to the coach. Benitez seems to be playing him further up the pitch and we are seeing him making some impact but just flashes, really.

He was never a player with world class talent to begin with but there are less talented players that went on to be really good players. I think if he was coached and managed properly over the past 4 years, we could be seeing a different Tom Davies

Think of players like Phil Neville. Not particularly great in any specific role but knew how to apply themselves. But he would have been coached properly and maybe also had a greater grasp of the game.

TBF Davies has never been as rancid as Pointy was in that Wigan game

TBH he played some one twos with through balls plus covered more area than Allen with greater speed - his position is an attacking midfielder only Carlo could attempt to make him a defensive midfielder ....

He is far better in a 3-man midfield ..... & certainly not our worst midfielder.....

There's definitely a footballer there. Maybe the lad has no confidence after the endless manager circus act. I love how we constantly write off young talent. While at the same time screaming for managers to "play the kids" when things are going wrong.

So we’re writing off young talent, who’s actually played 135 games over 5yrs.

I think it’s mental, fans still thinking he will come good and needs more time.

He’s in the same bracket as Coleman and Keane, 3 players who can have stinker after stinker, then as soon as they have a decent game. Which is basically not making a horrendous mistake that costs us. Out come the fan club singing their praises.

Is it any wonder we’ve gone 26yrs with out a trophy. The Bar is on the floor for some of you fans.
