Yep, hence Ronny K bringing him in the last few games, to get him up to speed, as Ronny said, he doesnt wanna be bringing young players in for 1 or 2 games, he wants them to get a run when they get a chance.

The mans just a managerial marvel.

6m a year?

Give him a pay rise I say.

But you LOLed(no) at Him starting the youngsters yesterday mert, which is it?

Think some people are getting ahead of themselves with Davies right now.

the lad had a good game yesterday sure, against a poor southampton team though. What that tells me as a fan is that he is certainly good enough to be part of the first team squad and is a better option than barry. What i am not going to personally do is make out he is the next big thing because at the end of the day he has a hell of a long way to come before he can command his own place.

It is nice to see a local lad playing for the team though, and hopefully he can progress from these oppertunities and really be a part of the team in years to come.

His first time pass to set up Rom's goal speaks volumes. Yes it was late in the game, yes we were 2 up and coasting, but what a beautifully weighted pass, allowing Rom to shift himself for the shot without having to take a touch.

I didn't see the game and can only go off MOTD highlights, but I saw him getting stuck in on the touchline early on, and this pass. Both highly encouraging.

His name doesn't fit the Barkley song.
'A toffee who comes from Wavertree, he plays alongside Tom Davieees' nah snide.
Booooooo

He's boss really like.
''Tis the future " he plays alongside Gana and Davies , ...." fits nicely.

Thankfully MOTD was pretty crap when it came to highlights, otherwise they'd have been drooling over the future England partnership of Barkley, for me easily MoM, and Davies.

Yes they link up well, don't know if it's just me but seems like Davies playing has lifted a weight off Ross's shoulders?

He's played very well the last two games, and in all honesty in every game he has had so far. He seems a very measured lad and quite laid back in his demeanour which has helped his transition to the first team. He just goes on and plays his natural game. He's probably looked the most at ease being in the spotlight since Rooney. I think Barkley has more natural ability than Davies but probably riddled with a bit more doubt.

What should be noted on Davies more generally, is that he has had to fight very hard to get to the point where he is now even internally. Two years ago he couldn't get a game in our under 18's, and was having to play right back to get an opportunity. He was well behind Walsh, Ledson and Williams in his position. I remember a youth coach saying that Davies had all the ability, even as a young player but took a little longer to realise he was as good as some of the older lads who were ahead of him.

As for the style of player he is he is probably our most rounded midfield player and a natural number 8. There are bits of Barkley, McCarthy and Gana in him. He is comfortable on the ball, intercepts well, likes to tackle, quite creative and has an excellent engine.

Ross has certainly had his best spell of the season of late, Davies certainly adds something that complements him but I think Koeman deserves a lot of credit for the way he's handling Barkley. Davies too for that matter, I posted on here a week or so ago that I thought RK was handling Davies well with a good mix of first team training and U23s game time. There will be times when Koeman doesn't play him , or he's not in the squad, and we lose or play poorly and the fume will be massive. From memory Davies was captaining the England U19s in matches in July, he played in the autumn internationals, played U23s games and PL . That's a pretty full season he's having , and there are more international games come June , I have some doubts about Koeman but I'm confident he'll handle Davies and other youngsters in the right manner.

Wasn't this lad training with the senior England squad in the summer prior to the euro's so he seems highly rated. With Cana away at the AFCON we shoild get the opportunity to see how good he is

I also think Koeman only puts people in when they are ready. If you are a young player and he puts his faith in you to start it must mean a hell of a lot. It also shows to me that he's likely to be here longer term.
