being 4-2 up was an ideal time to used the new lad instead of Barry imo too!
personally i think it actually gave leicester a boost, because when barry came on we dropped so far back that it just invited pressure from leicester, that's just my opinion though, still won comfortably in the end and that's all that matters. We're going to have to disagree on that mate. He hasn't always get his subs right, but I think Koeman called that spot on and we killed the game very effectively with Barry on the pitch, when bringing a youngster on to replace Davies and leave a not totally match fit Schneiderlin on the pitch could have left us vulnerable to Leicester scoring a third, which would have made for a nervous end to the game.
Good assessment from Keown there.
Honestly as immense as he is for his age, he isn't a match winner or a player you can build your team around. However his movement, touch, passing and vision are all quality. He's a player that seldom drops below a 7/10, you need players like that and I'm sure he'll have a good career with us.
Brilliant type of talent that you don't normally associate with English players
Don't agree with this, he's a very British talent imo. He's not some insanely technical continental type player, he's a hard working English lad with a good overall game and good intelligence for an 18 year old.
Totally agree. Barkley is the insanely technical player. This lad is going to be fantastic though and I love the way he never stresses when in possession (yep he gets caught now and again, but would rather that than booting it out) and for me that is a great sign of what Unsworth is teaching in the u23s.
I think its perhaps that some people may put the 'British style player tag' in the file that says more brawns than brain. However personally, I think Tom Davies has great instinct on the ball rarely seen in one so young. Hes comfortable and caresses it with a continental ease and flair you dont often see here. Its not a good comparison with Ross Barkley as Ross has power as well as flair to beat his man and the capacity to provide a sublime shot or cross. But he also succumbs to "Jethro Bodene" moments when he looks awkward and cant think what to do next on the ball...far removed from young Tom's instinctive and quick foresight thus far.Indeed. Barkley is clearly superior in terms of technique and is closer to GwladysPhils description.
Find it amusing how some people have disliked my comment, as if calling him a british style player is an insult lol
