tbh, it's not looking good for the lad - or anybody else of his age group, given the pressure. Also the fact that Koeman came with a bit of a rep, which could be unfounded, but who knows. Too many knock backs, seeing half fit sicknotes and bang average players, not only getting in but playing poor, will sap the will to keep at it at 100%. It may even lead to - 'Hey XXXXK per week, just keep taking the money'.
Koeman will go for Cleverley or Gibson ahead of Davies. A place on the bench maybe
he's just turned 18. How in the world is it 'not looking good for the lad'?
There's absolutely no rush at all.
Not for him, no...not just yet...time soon flys
But;
In our week by week existence it's 5 games with not much to show for them and not the best performances either.
The earlier ones we didn't lose we weren't too Impressive over all.
It won't be too long before - 'He has to assess everybody' has turned into - 'Whatya gonna do now Ron'
How many chances are all the others going to get, before the Kids get a turn (not whole sale 3 or 4 obvs )
or is it how bad does it have to get
He will play him when he is ready! He obviously isnt quite ready yet and the manager thinks he would benefit more from playing in the U23s with players of his own age group for now.
If he comes in and plays badly what then?
Better to have tried and failed...and maybe learned from it.
Playing badly hasn't caused too much grief to those who have made a habit of it over 2 or 3 seasons...it goes around and they come around, Lo and behold they're back in.
He needs a 5 game run - (you learn by doing, not by keeping up with Niasse in the U23's) then a rest / re-assessment...and unless he and/or the team were/are dire, another run.
Oh aye yeah, its not affected Barkley at all.
Had was given the chance (which is for another thread tbh)
I think it would be a shame if Davies - and maybe one or two others - do not get that chance.

Holgate got a run of games, culminating in a motm performance and was cast aside...Deulofeu (a confidence player) needs a run of games instead of Mirallas.
Davies has shown that hes up to snuff, however were seeing Cleverley get minutes ahead of him.
Not good for competition or morale.
When has Davies shown that he is up to it?
He looked good in a dead rubber game last season and has had a few minutes here and there.
Dont get me wrong I think he has tons of potential and I hope as much as you to see him play more and more but its not like he has shown enough to be in the team every week. That takes time.
He will get his chance.
I was comparing him to Cleverley. In my opinion his game time has been just as effective and in the Norwich game he showed more than Cleverley has recently.
